We are starting a crochet/knitting or weaving circle to make shawls and blankets to be distributed to people in the community who are homebound, ill or in hospice. It is very comforting to be given a homemade shawl or blanket.

A healing shawl is a garment of love and consolation for a person who is in need.  It is prayerfully knitted or crocheted for an unknown recipient.

Handmade shawls and lap blankets donated by our community could be very comforting to hospice patients. If you can knit or crochet a simple pattern, you can bring warmth and comfort to patients receiving end-of-life care.

If you cannot knit, crochet or weave, it would be my pleasure to teach you, so please consider joining us once a month, from September through May. Day and time to be announced.  (coffee, chat, comraderie and yarn, what could be better than that?).

If you used to knit or crochet your hands have not forgotten how! I’ll have you happily hooking/ tinking and frogging/warping and wefting in no time!

If you are interested, or know someone in the community who would be, please call me at 201-981-7382

Blessings be,

Elder Kristin Mooney
